The Cuban-born designer rose to fame when First Lady Michelle Obama wore her lime green shift dress and jacket on Inauguration Day.
Now, after participating in a monumental day in American history, Isabel Toledo has scored the chance to design for the everyday American woman. Introducing her capsule collection for Payless via WWD.
The designer will create handbags and shoes for the retail giant, retailing for less than $40 and debuting in September. The accessories will feature prints like patent leather, nylon, rubber and mesh and come in styles like flats and galoshes.
Toledo, pictured below, had this to say about the collaboration: “Working with Payless gives me an opportunity to reach so many women, and it’s a treat to be able to touch as many women as I will,” said Toledo. “It’s really a collection for women from all walks of life, literally. And it’s been interesting as I’ve had to have a different design hat on."
What do you think, Glamazons? Are you excited about this collaboration?
With Michelle Obama as a supporter, and Payless as a retailer, Isabel Toledo should have no problem winning over the hearts, and wallets, of the everyday American woman.
